This weekend has been incredible.
Saturday I was able to spend all day long with Mr. Beckett. We went to the BYU football practice, had an awesome barbecue, played in the pool and got some major farmer tans. What else could you want?
To top it all off, Sunday was a gift. My dear friend Lorraine and her boyfriend came over for breakfast. We hadn't seen each other in over year. Needless to say we had a lot of catching up to do. After they left, the husband and I planned our lesson for church. We are the family history teachers in our student married ward. I'm pretty sure that our students know more about the topic than we do. It is a great learning opportunity.
After church, Mr. Beckett and I went over to Sabrina and Brenton's house for ANOTHER barbecue. Oh it was delicious! I've been friends with Sabrina for 13 years. It is so much fun living close to each other. Having a girl friend close by is probably one of the biggest blessings I've received the past couple of months. We just played games and talked until around 11.
Monday was a great day as well! Mr. Beckett, Brett, Mia, and I went to see the jazz's new jerseys. While we were at the grand review, I saw all of these people SO excited to see the jerseys and the jazz players. It made me sad to think how some people just give up everything they have to try and be like people they see on the tv and the internet. Now, I'm not saying that athletes, actors, and all kinds of artists aren't talented because they are! They work hard for what they do. But they are people, just like us. It made me realize that every single person in the world has the opportunity and the gift within them to be extraordinary. They have the gift and ability to be themselves. Every single person has it. It might not be the ability to jump multiple feet off the ground to put a ball through a hoop, or it might not be the ability to break a champagne glass with singing. It might just be the ability to love, the ability to smile, the ability to fix things, or the ability to motivate others. The basketball players weren't the only extraordinary people at that revealing. So I say, next time we're in a large crowd. Let's give a round of applause to everyone we see. Deal? Deal.
